Could it really be that easy? 7 days? Seriously?

There’s a nature trail within close proximity to where I live. I was going through a lot of life changes and challenges during this particular time. Who am I kidding, there are always lots of changes and challenges! I started intentionally blocking off 30 minutes each evening to walk down the trail. It was my time to gather my thoughts and have a bit of peace and quiet in a fast-paced world.

After a bit I started to notice some of the tiniest things, and you guessed it…they made me smile. I decided I was going to commit to finding one thing each day that made me smile. I shared this commitment with one of my “most bestest” friends (because I wanted to make sure I kept myself accountable for all 7 days). The accountability part of the 7 days started as a sideline notion, but soon became what fueled the 7 smiles. Each day I would send a picture of something that made me smile, with a short blurb, to my friend. She would then send me something from her day that made her smile, or vice versa.

Our 7 Days 7 Smiles conversations were so much fun. Admittedly it was a little harder than I thought it would be, but I knew it was only 7 days, and it was great to share a smile with someone else.

I don’t know about you, but I get tickled pink when I see someone else smile. It’s the universal symbol of happiness. So for 7 days I knew my friend smiled each of those days because her pictures reflected something that made her happy each day. I was so grateful to have been a part of sharing in those moments with her.
